Paint that Sells

The right paint color just might help sell your home for more money. Since a fresh coat is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to stage and update your home for market, I thought I would pass along some helpful information from Zillow as to exactly which colors brought in the most money.

Zillow’s 2017 Paint Color Analysis looked at more than 32,000 photos from sold homes around the country to see how certain paint colors impacted their sale price on average, when compared to similar homes with white walls. (https://www.zillow.com/blog/blue-kitchens-sell-for-more-216631/)

Here’s what they learned:

• Kitchens: Blue or gray-blue sold for a premium of $1,809

• Bathrooms: Pale blue sold for $5,440 more than expected

• Living Rooms: Light beige or pale taupe sold for $1,926 more

• Bedrooms: Light cerulean or light blue brought in an extra $1856

• Dining Rooms: Slate blue or pale gray sold for a $1,926 premium

• Exterior: Greige is the color that sold for $3496 more than expected

• Front Doors: Dark navy or slate gray sold for $1,514 more

Colors that actually yield lower sale prices include yellow, red, pink, brown, and get this… white.

I‘ve created a palette for some dollar-generating inspiration combining my favorite staging colors along with Zillow’s recommendations. So grab a brush and raise your home’s value! And as always, feel free to contact me with your real estate or staging questions.
